My boss recently changed my schedule to night shift, and let another person who was hired six months after me take a shift that she had to be trained for. I am already trained for day shift and would rather work it instead of night shift. I was not asked what shift I would like to work, I was scheduled a different shift than what I had been working. In the last two weeks, my step father's health has taken a turn for the worse, and my mom does not want hospice yet, she works night shift as and RN and needs me to be with my step dad at night while she works. Is there anything I can do if my boss refuses to change my shift?

Sure is.............start looking for another job............if your a qualified RN.........shouldn't be a problem.........talk to your Supervisor first..........

seniority means nothing unless you are in a union or under contract. have you asked your boss why you were put on this shift,? (not to be mean) but could the other employee be better at something then you. I know they had to be trained but still asking....

have you told your boss about your home life and that you are needed at home at night.. bosses can't read minds..
