Im curious as to what the minimum hours in calling in for a shift are. I have recently been told that I gave short notice when I called in at 4:00pm for a shift that didnt start until 11:00pm that is clearly 7 hours. I have always thought at least 4 hours was required.

You SHOULD give at least 3-4 hours, but it is not legally required.

Your employer makes policy for that. Just ask your employer. The 24 hour rule applies only when asking for a personal day.

The employer sets the requirement. There's no law specifying how long ahead you have to call in.

It is up to your employers policy........ask........easy......they can do what ever they wish......and so can you.....if you don't like the policy .....just quit.......easy........
