Question:
Sexual Harassment Employer Legal Question?
2007-05-09 22:03:39 UTC
My HR department is currently working on a sexual harassment issue that I have told them about regarding my supervisor. Can they legally tell me that I can't talk to anyone about it? The deal is that my co-worker may have noticed this going on to me or to herself, but I'm not sure. That's when they told me that they will discuss this with her but I need to stay completely out of it. I feel that it's unfair that I can not confide in my co-worker to maybe even warn her of the creep in the office. My friend owns a company and said that this is definitley illigal, but I want proof/documentation before I bring this up to my employer. Thanks in advance!

If you have a serious issue with sexual harassment you need to go to your local Equal Employment Opportunity Office. It sounds like your employer is simply trying to cover up the situation and sweep it under the rug. In most states you only have 180 days to file a complaint with the EEOC so do it right away. You cannot sue in court for sexual harassment until AFTER you have gone through the EEOC process.

Legally, they cannot force you not to disclose or talk about this to anybody else. If you have proof of your sexual harassment, the company can do nothing and u can directly go to court if your complaint was not heard properly by the company.

i'm unsure of Utah's regulation especially yet i'm particularly specific it is incorrect in any state for that to take place. Your spouse did no longer do something incorrect so for him to declare hazard yet another incident is b.s i could take this to a criminal expert on the instant. he's extremely asserting he hires all intercourse offenders who will harass her or he's asserting she is this manner of temptress it is going to take place returned?! What a pig!

Depends on what state you live in. Laws vary widely from state to state.
