A background verification will verify education and employment that you list on an application or resume. The most common fraud that I see in hiring is when people lie about their college education or high school education. (Say they graduated when they didn't)

Don`t sweat the small stuff. Background checks only check to see if you have ever been arrested then convicted of a felony. Things like DWI, traffic tickets and parking tickets. They don`t care. p.s. Only put your social if they are interested in hiring you. -S

If the company has a professional investigator run a background check then every job where taxes have been paid (social security, etc.) will show. Schools in another thing, some private schools will not show, but if you have obtained a student loan that will show.

Some companies do not obtain an extensive background check that shows everything. That depends mainly on the job they are hiring for.

For the job you had for a week I would think that if the company ever asked you why you did not list it, all you say is that since it was such a short time you felt it was insignificant. Good luck.

Depends on the job you are applying for. Alot of companies ask for background information simply becauase the don't do background checks. just fill in the blank work history and dont leave any gaps. Babysitting for a trusted friend or house cleaning would be a good gap filler and usually a good friend will back you up. I don't really consider it lying when it's a dog eat dog world. Sorry if this suggestion offends anyone. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to feed the family and as long as you're not hurting anyone, it should be ok.
